Kovotex blev grundlagt i 1990 som leverandør af lønlakering. Virksomheden begyndte med små filterkabiner med kammerovne, slyngrensning af store produkter og dyppeforbehandling af aluminiumskomponenter. Som følge af en stigende efterspørgsel besluttede virksomheden at investere i en ny automatisk linje med multimetalforbehandling i henhold til Qualicoat.
